A Fire Safety Awareness Session was successfully conducted in Goidhoo with the support of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). The program aimed to raise awareness among the island community about fire prevention, safety measures, and effective response during emergencies.

During the session, MNDF officials educated participants on:

Identifying common fire hazards in households and workplaces.

Proper use of fire extinguishers and other firefighting equipment.

Steps to take during a fire emergency to ensure personal and community safety.

Importance of preparedness and regular safety drills.

The awareness program attracted teachers, students, and members of the general public, all of whom actively engaged in discussions and demonstrations. Participants highlighted that the session provided valuable, practical knowledge that would help them act swiftly and responsibly in the event of a fire.

Speaking at the event, Goidhoo Council representatives expressed their gratitude to MNDF for extending their expertise to the island community. “This initiative is an important step in strengthening public safety and building resilience. We look forward to conducting more such training programs in the future,” the council noted.

The session concluded with hands-on demonstrations by MNDF trainers, allowing participants to practice using fire extinguishers and other equipment.

The Goidhoo Council emphasized that public safety remains a top priority and assured that similar awareness and training activities will continue to be held to safeguard the community.
